Our Soul Does Not Die...
The coin is issued on the occasion of 190th anniversary of Taras Shevchenko, an outstanding Ukrainian poet (1814-1861) and is made on motives of his poems. In circulation since January 30, 2004.
Obverse:
On the coin obverse in the centre there is the small State Emblem of Ukraine is depicted on the background of a rushnyk (towel) with an ornamentation holographic depiction (left); to the right from the Emblem there are mallow flowers. Above there is a half-circular inscription: УКРАЇНА, beneath in three lines - 20 ГРИВЕНЬ 2004, as well as designation of metal Ag 925, its pure weight 62,2 g and the Mint logo of the National Bank of Ukraine.
Reverse:
On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Taras Shevchenko with facsimile is depicted, on both sides from the portrait there is a composition resembling wings, - characters of his poems on the background of trees and half-circular inscriptions: above - НЕ ВМИРАЄ ДУША НАША, beneath - НЕ ВМИРАЄ ВОЛЯ.
