The coins are dedicated to Grasshopper Ukrainian (POECILIMON UKRAINICUS), the rare species of grasshoppers which inhabits only the area of Ukraine and who is on the endangered-species list of Ukraine. Issued into circulation on June 14, 2006.
Obverse:
On the obverse of coin, set in a wreath of images of certain flora and fauna species, there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine and inscriptions: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ / БАНК / УКРАЇНИ / 10 / ГРИВЕНЬ / 2006 (National Bank of Ukraine, 10 hryvnias, 2006); there is the indication of metal and its fineness – Ag 925, weight in fineness – 31.1g; The logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint is placed on the coin.
Reverse:
On the coins reverse of both coins there is a cricket on a grass stem and the semicircular inscriptions say: ПИЛКОХВІСТ УКРАЇНСЬКИЙ (Ukrainian bush cricket) above and POECILIMON UKRAINICUS below.
