120 Years of the Odesa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre

The coin is issued on the occasion of the 120th anniversary of the Odesa National Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, a famous building which is a wide-known architectural monument built in the Viennese Baroque style according to the design project of architects Ferdinand Fellner and Hermann Helmer. The theatre was opened in 1887. The ceiling of the theatre hall was painted by the Vienna artist Franz Lefler with motives of Shakespeare's plays. The theatre is famous not only due to its architecture but also due to its staging record.

On the obverse of the 5 Hryvnia coin a ballet scene is depicted, the Small National Emblem of Ukraine (above) and the inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine); below there is 5/ ГРИВЕНЬ (5 Hryvnias) and the coin mintage year 2007. On both coins there is the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.
Reverse: 
On the reverse of the coin the building of the Odesa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre is depicted, under which there is the inscription: 120 РОКІВ (120 Years), and one more around the coin circumference - ОДЕСЬКИЙ ДЕРЖАВНИЙ АКАДЕМІЧНИЙ ТЕАТ ОПЕРИ ТА БАЛЕТУ (Odesa State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre).
