The National Bank of Kazakhstan has put into circulation 50 and 500 tenge coins from "Red book" series dedicated to the Northern Hawk Owl (Surnia ulula). Coins are issued in circulation on May 11th 2011.

50 tenge CuNi coin.
Face value: 50 tenge;

Diameter – 31 mm, thickness – 2 mm, weight – 11,17 gram;

The lateral surface (drove) is grooved with 10 sectors of corrugation.

Mintage: 50000 pcs.

500 tenge silver coin.
Face value: 500 tenge;

Quality: proof, metal - silver 0.925;

Diameter – 38.61 mm, weight – 31,1 gram;

Mintage: 5000 pcs.
