The National Bank of Kazakhstan has put into circulation gold 500 tenge "Al-Farabi" coin from new coin series "Portraits on banknotes" on August 20th, 2011.

Averse: State Emblem of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the middle, face value «500 ТЕҢГЕ» in the bottom, elements of national ornamental design to the left and right from the center, inscription «ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ» in Kazakh and «РЕСПУБЛИКА КАЗАХСТАН» in Russian alone circumference, logo of National Bank of Kazakhstan at upper sector.

Reverse: fragment of an image of 1 tenge banknote with portrait of great thinker of the East Al-Frabi, name of the coin in Kazakh «ӘЛ-ФАРАБИ», year of issue «2011» and part of banknote design along circumference, metal and weight of the coin «Au 999 7,78 gr.» are indicated at the upper sector.
