The commemorative coins are made by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. The high quality of the coins is certified by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan.
Present-day architecture of the white-marble capital represented by the magnificent Oguzkhan Presidential Palace Complex, the Monument of Constitution, the complex of fountains with the statues of the historical personalities of the Turkmen nation, Turkmenistan Broadcasting Centre, new administrative buildings of Turkmen ministries and departments is depicted on the obverse of the 50-manat coins of the AŞGABAT GALKYNYŞ EÝÝAMYNYDA series. The legends AŞGABAT GALKYNYŞ EÝÝAMYNYDA and ELLI MANAT (fifty manats) and the hallmark and weight of the rarities are inscribed in a circle of the coin.
The grandiose architectural ensemble of the Monument of Constitution which is a symbol of the sovereign Turkmen state and embodies the inviolability of the foundations of statehood, age-old democratic principles and centuries-old traditions of sovereignty of the people is depicted in the centre of the 10-manat coins of the KONSTITUSIÝA BINASY series. The legends KONSTITUSIÝA BINASY and ON MANAT (ten manats) and the hallmark and weight of the rarities are inscribed in a circle of the coins.
The State Emblem of Turkmenistan with the legend TÜRKMENISTANYŇ GARAŞSYZLYGYNA 20 ÝYL and two crossing olive branches are depicted in the centre of the reverse side of the numismatic souvenirs. The reverse side also bears the inscription of the years of independence 1991-2011.
100 and 200 gold coins are made from 916-karat gold. The coins 38.61 mm in diameter weigh 39.94 grams and the coins 28.40 mm in diameter weigh 15.98 grams.
Each of 200 coins is 38.61 mm in diameter made from 925-karat silver weigh 28.28 grams. 300 coins 28.40 mm in diameter weigh 12 grams each.
The set of the gold and silver 20-manat coins is dedicated to Oguzkhan, the founder of the Turkmen nation who is depicted riding a horse on the obverse.
The reverse traditionally bear the National Emblem of Turkmenistan and the legends TÜRKMENISTANYŇ GARAŞSYZLYGYNA 20 ÝYL and YIGRIMI MANAT (twenty manats) inscribed in a circle and the dates 1991-2011 inscribed between these legends.
Each of 100 gold coins and 200 silver coins 38.61 mm in diameter weighs 39.94 grams and 28.28 respectively. Each of 200 gold coins and 300 silver coins 22 mm in diameter weighs 8.51 grams and 8.11 grams respectively.
The commemorative coins issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan to mark the anniversary of independence will become a part of the priceless numismatic collection created in Turkmenistan during the years of independence.
