Obverse:
On the obverse of the coin against a background of the national ornament elements, the figure "500" is shown. Under it there is the inscription "ТЕҢГЕ", indicating the face value of the coin. At the left upper sector of the coin there are the legend "Ag 925 24 gr." indicates the metal of the coin, its standard and weight and the trademark of the Kazakhstan Mint. Circling the coin is a wide salient edging, on which the legend "ҚАЗАҚСТАН ҰЛТТЫҚ БАНКІ" in the Kazakh language and the figure "2004", indicating the year of coinage, are located. Legends are pressed in the edging.
Reverse:
At the back side of the coin against a background of conventionalized stone plate there is an image of rock painting dated to second half of II millennium B.C. Circling the coin is a wide salient edging, on which the legends "ТАМҒАЛЫТАС • ОЙШЫЛ" in Kazakh, and "THE TAMGALYTAS • THE THINKER" in English, are located. Legends are pressed in the edging.
