The National Bank of Ukraine has put into circulation 5 hryvnen bimetal and silver coins "The International Year of Forests" on November 24th, 2011.

Commemorative coins are dedicated to the International Year of Forests, i.e. 2011, declared such by the United Nations. The forests are a type of natural landscapes with corresponding vegetation, fauna, microorganisms, depending upon one another in their evolution. They are a component of the national natural resources of the country, ponderable for the life harmony of human beings.

Face value of the bimetal coin is 5 hryvnen, weight 9.4 g, diameter 28 mm, briliant uncirculated quality. Mintage 30 000 pcs.. Coin is minted at the Mint of National Bank of Ukraine.

Face value of the silver coin is 5 hryvnen, weight 15.55 g, diameter 33 mm, briliant uncirculated quality. Mintage 3 000 pcs.. Coin is minted at the Mint of National Bank of Ukraine.
