The National Bank of Kazakhstan has put into circulation 50 and 500 tenge coins "100th anniversary of D. Kunaev".  Coins issued in circulation on January 10th 2012.

Dinmukhamed (Dimash) Akhmetuly Konayev (Kazakh: Дінмұхаммед (Димаш) Ахметұлы Қонаев; Russian: Динмухаммед Ахмедович Кунаев), born 12 January 1912 in Verny, now Almaty, died 22 August 1993, was a Kazakh Soviet communist politician.

50 tenge CuNi coin.
Face value: 50 tenge;

Diameter – 31 mm, thickness – 2 mm, weight – 11,17 gram;

Obverse: State Emblem of Kazakhstan against ornamental background; face value of the coin "50 ТЕҢГЕ"; "2009" means the year of coinage; legend in Kazakh "ҚАЗАҚСТАН YЛТТЫҚ БАНКI".

Reverse: half face portrait of Dinmuhammed Kunaev, inscription on the upper edge «Д.А. ҚОНАЕВ», and years «1912-2012» that mean year of birth of Kunaev and year of issue       

The lateral surface (drove) is grooved;

500 tenge silver coin.
Face value: 500 tenge;

Quality: proof, metal - silver 0.925;
Shape: Octagon

Diameter – 38.61 mm, weight – 31,1 gram;

Mintage: 5000 pcs.

Obverse: State Emblem of Republic of Kazakhstan and State Emblem of the Kazakh Soviet Socialist Republic, face value of the coin «500 ТЕҢГЕ», metal of the coin «Ag 925» and its weight «31,1 gr.», a trade mark of the Kazakhstan mint, inscription «ҚАЗАҚСТАН РЕСПУБЛИКАСЫ» in Kazakh and «РЕСПУБЛИКА КАЗАХСТАН» along circumference.

Reverse: portrait of Dinmuhammed Kunaev against his stylized half face, signature of Kunaev under the main image, year of issue «2012», an inscription «100 years of Д.А. ҚОНАЕВ», and a logo of National Bank of Republic Kazakhstan.
