National Bank of Ukraine from June 26th, introduces commemorative coins 50 and 5 hryvni "200 years to Nikitsky Botanical Garden"

Coin of 50 hryvni is made of silver 999-quality "proof". The mass of metal in purity - 500 grams, diameter - 85 mm. Circulation coin - 1.000 pcs. Edge of the coin is smooth with embossed symbols on the Periodic Table of the metal (Ag), its fineness, weight and purity of the logo of the Mint.

5 hryvni is coin made of nickel silver as a "special uncirculated", weight - 16.54 g, diameter - 35.0 mm. Circulation - 35 thousand. pcs. The edge is corrugated.

Nikitsky Botanical Garden  is one of the oldest botanical gardens. It is located in Crimea, Ukraine, close to Yalta, by the shores of the Black Sea. It was founded in 1812 and named after the settlement Nikita, Ukraine. Its founder and first director was Russian botanist Christian Steven of Swedish descent. The garden and its collections were greatly expanded by the Livonian Nicolai Anders von Hartwiss, director 1827–1860.
 
The total area is 11 square kilometres. It is a scientific research centre, a producer of saplings and seeds, and a tourist attraction.
 
The garden is the part of the Ukrainian Academy of Agrarian Sciences. It has subsidiaries in Crimea and Kherson Oblast. Its collection counts over 50,000 species, sorts and hybrides. Its scientific work consists in study of natural flora, collection of gene fund, selection and introduction of new agricultural plants for south Ukraine, Russia, and other countries.
