Marshal Babajanyan

This silver commemorative coin issued by the Central Bank of Armenia, is dedicated to the centenary of Marshal Hamazasp Babajanyan's birth. Hamazasp Babajanyan (1906-1977) has been rewarded as Hero of Soviet Union (1944). In 1975, he was appointed to serve as Chief-Marshal of Armored Forces of Soviet Union. Hamazasp Babajanyan has graduated from Tiflis Military School named after A. Myasnikyan (1929), participated in express courses in the Military Academy of General Staff (1948). Babajanyan has participated in the Soviet-Finnish Campaign and Great Patriotic War. There are schools and streets both in Yerevan and Moscow named after Hamazasp Babajanyan.

Obverse: 
The obverse of the coin has the coat of arms of the RA in the middle of the inner circle, under which the nominal value of the coin - 1,000 drams is given. The outer circle has the insrciption of the organization that issued this commemorative coin and the year of the issue - "The Central Bank of Armenia 2006".
Reverse: 
Marshal Hamazasp Babajanian in his military uniform is depicted on the inner circle of the coin's reverse. The marshal's name in Armenian and years of his birth and death - 1906-1977 are inscribed on the outer circle.
