New Lithuanian coin Pond Turtle

The Bank of Lithuania issued into circulation the 50 litas collectors silver coin dedicated to Pond Turtle (Emys orbicularis) on 20th of November. Coin issued under coin series.

The 50 litas coin dedicated to Pond Turtle has been struck from silver Ag 925, quality proof (mirror surface, mat relief), diameter 38.61 mm, weight 28.28 g. The words on the edge of the coin: LIETUVOS GAMTA (LITHUANIAN NATURE).

Design of the coin was created by . The mintage of the coin is ę,000 pieces. The coins were minted at the Lithuanian Mint.

Obverse:
In the centre of the obverse there is the national emblem of the state, Vytis; the inscriptions LIETUVA (Lithuania) and 2012 are arranged in a semicircle. The mintmark of the Lithuanian Mint is impressed on the obverse of the coin.
 
Reverse:
The reverse of the coin features a stylised pond turtle included in the Red Data Book of Lithuania. The inscriptions BALINIS VĖŽLYS (pond turtle), Emys orbicularis, and 50 LITŲ (50 litas) are arranged in a semicircle. The mark of the designer GK is impressed on the reverse of the coin.
