The Central Bank of Turkmenistan issued new 50- and 20-manat commemorative coins “Complete census of population and housing of Turkmenistan”.
The new gold and silver coins are dedicated to the complete census of population and housing of Turkmenistan, which will take place on December 15-26 in accordance with the special Resolution of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. As is known, this important event will be held within the framework of the UN initiatives on taking the general census in the UN member states in 2005-2014.
The emblem of the forthcoming action and the date “2012” are depicted in the centre of the obverse of commemorative coins. The reverse traditionally bears the National Emblem of Turkmenistan as well as the hallmark and weight of the rarities.
The commemorative silver coin differs from its golden analogue with the inscription on the reverse side depicting its nominal value.
The commemorative coins are made by the Royal Mint in the United Kingdom. 200 gold coins and 200 silver coins 38.61 mm in diameter are made from 916.7-karat gold and 925-karat silver. 50-manat coins weigh 39.94 grams and 20-manat coins - 28.28 grams.
