On 26 April 2013, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation the commemorative coin “The Great Bustard” of 10 and 2 hryvnia face value, which continue the “Flora and Fauna” series.
The coin is dedicated to one of the largest birds in Ukraine, an endangered species belonging to the Gruiformes family, which is listed in the Red Book of Ukraine and the European Red List of Globally Threatened Animals and Plants.
The coin of 10 hryvnia face value has been made of silver; quality – “special uncirculated”, weight – 31.1 g, diameter – 38.6 mm, mintage – 5 000 pieces. The coin edge is corrugated.
The coin of 2 hryvnia face value has been made of German silver; quality – “special uncirculated”, weight– 12.8 g, diameter – 31.0 mm, mintage – 30 000 pieces. The coin edge is corrugated.
Obverse: within the wreath formed from the images of different species of the flora and fauna there are the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint and the legends:
