New Lithuanian coins The 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Lithuanian Sąjūdis

The Bank of Lithuania issued a 25 and 50 litas collectors (commemorative) coins dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Lithuanian Sąjūdis (from the series “Lithuania’s Road to Independence”).

The obverse of the coin features Vytis, a stylized coat-of-arms of the Republic of Lithuania, and fragments of barricades in the centre; the inscription LIETUVA (LITHUANIA) is arranged in a semicircle above them; the respective denominations 50 LITŲ (50 litas) on silver coind and 25 LITAI (25 litas) on nordic gold coin are placed at the bottom.

On the reverse of the coins, a fragment of a photograph by Zinas Kazėnas is memorialized in the centre, the year of issue 2013 on the left, the inscription LIETUVOS SĄJŪDIS 25 (LITHUANIAN SĄJŪDIS 25) on the right.

The edge of silver coin bears twice the inscription SU SĄJŪDŽIU UŽ LIETUVĄ (WITH SĄJŪDIS FOR LITHUANIA). The edge of the 25 litas coin is rimmed.

Diameter of silver coin is 38.61 mm, Weight 28.28 g. Diameter of Nordic gold coin is 28.00 mm, weight 10.00 g

The coins were minted at UAB Lietuvos monetų kalykla (Lithuanian Mint). Mintage of  coins 4,000 pieces,  - 25,000 pieces. Coins designed by Rytas Jonas Belevičius
