On 25 October 2013, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation the commemorative coin Olha Kobylianska.
The commemorative coin is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of birth of a renowned Ukrainian authoress, one of the most educated women of the 19th century who fought for the women`s rights and, by means of her works, according to Dmytro Pavlychko`s statement, `created an entire encyclopedia of the feminine soul`. Olha Yulianivna KOBYLIANSKA is an impressive figure in the Ukrainian prose, astute psychologistic writer, artist of a lyrically romantic turn of mind whose artistic legacy has enriched the spiritual treasury of our people.
Obverse: above there is the semicircular inscription НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) with the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine and the National Bank of Ukraine Mint mark thereunder; to the left there is represented a fragment of Olha Kobylianska`s letter to Lesya Ukrainka against the background whereof there are depicted an inkpot and a pen; below there is the legend 2 ГРИВНІ / 2013 (2 hryvnias / 2013).
Reverse: against the background of the fragment of Olha Kobylianska`s letter to Lesya Ukrainka (to the left) there is a portrait of the penwoman with indication of the years of her life 1863/1942; above there is the semicircular inscription ОЛЬГА КОБИЛЯНСЬКА (Olha Kobylianska).
The coin Olha Kobylianska of 2 hryvnia face value is made of German silver, quality – “special uncirculated”. The total mintage figure for this coin is 20,000 pieces. The coin edge is grooved.
