The National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan announces the issue, effective from 13 November 2013, of the commemorative silver coin of “proof” quality “Caspian Seal” (Phoca Caspica) of the “Flora and Fauna of Kazakhstan” series of coins, of the nominal value of KZT 500.
The commemorative silver coin “Caspian Seal” (Phoca Caspica) has an oval form. On the face (obverse) of coin there is a stylized image of a floating seal and the Sun. In the upper part of the coin there is legend “500 TENGE”, which denotes the coin nominal value; to the left there is the trademark of Kazakhstan Mint. In the lower part, on full oval there is a legend “ҚАЗАҚСТАН ҰЛТТЫҚ БАНКІ» (KAZAKSTAN ULTYK BANKI) in the state language and “Ag 925 24 g”, which denotes the metal a coin is made, its fineness and weight.
In the center of the back side (reverse) of the coin there is an image of a Caspian seal with a calf among the ice floes and a gold plated image of the Sun. In the upper part, on the full oval there is legend “КАСПИЙ ИТБАЛЫҒЫ” (KASPI ITBALYGY) in the state language and “PHOCA CASPICA” (the species name in the Latin language), and in the bottom part there is a figure “2013”, which denotes the year of mintage.
The images and legends on the obverse and reverse of the coins are relief. A protruding edge runs on the full oval. The lateral surface (gurt) is grooved.
