In honor of the 22nd anniversary of independence of Turkmenistan and the 20th anniversary of the introduction of Turkmenistan, the Central Bank of Turkmenistan minted the 50-manat gold and silver commemorative coins and the sets of numismatic novelties.

The right part of the obverse of the commemorative coins displays the map of Turkmenistan. The dates 1993 and 2013 and the image of the Independence Monument against the background of cotton and wheat fields are depicted on the left. The golden ears of wheat and the inscription MILLI MANADA 20 ÝYL are placed at the bottom of the coins. The cotton bolls are depicted at the top of the coin.

The centre of the reverse of the coins traditionally depicts the relief image of the State Emblem of Turkmenistan. The inscription Türkmenistanyň Merkezi banky on the top of the coin and the inscription Elli manat - at the bottom are separated by the octagon images. The standard of the metals from which the coins are minted (Au 916.7 - gold and Ag 925 - silver) and their weight (39.94 g - gold and 28.28 g - silver) are presented on the reverse. The coins' diameter is 38.61 mm.

150 gold coins, 250 silver coins and 50 sets of two coins commemorative coins are minted at the Royal Mint Limited in the United Kingdom. The certificate of the Central Bank of Turkmenistan guarantees their high quality «proof».
