New Ukrainian coins Cyclamen coum

On 30th of September 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation the commemorative coin “Cyclamen coum” of 10 and 2 hryvnia face value, which continue the “Flora and Fauna” series.

Cyclamen coum is a species of flowering plant in the genus Cyclamen (subgenus Gyrophoebe series Pubipedia). It is a tuberous herbaceous perennial, growing to 5–8 cm (2–3 in), with rounded heart-shaped leaves and pink shell-shaped flowers with darker coloration at the base. It is valued in horticulture as groundcover, and for the flowers which bloom in winter and early spring.

The coin of 10 hryvnia face value has been made of silver; quality – “special uncirculated”, weight – 31.1 g, diameter – 38.6 mm, mintage – 3 000 pieces. The coin edge is lettered.

The coin of 2 hryvnia face value has been made of German silver; quality – “special uncirculated”, weight– 12.8 g, diameter – 31.0 mm, mintage – 35 000 pieces. The coin edge is corrugated.
