On November 25th 2014, the National Bank of Ukraine put into circulation the commemorative coin “75 Years of the Rivne Oblast” 5 hryvnia face value, which continues the “Oblasts of Ukraine” series.
The coin was fabricated with making use of sophisticated bi-metal technology: outer circle – cupronickel alloy, inner circle – nordic (CuAl5Zn5Sn1), quality – “special uncirculated”, diameter – 28.0 mm, weight – 9.4 g, mintage – 20 000 pieces, edge – set of grooves.
The coin is dedicated to the region that musters more than 600 explored mineral deposits, being the basalt and amber ones unique among them. Rivnenshchyna means a unique ensemble of castles, picturesque landscapes, substantial forestlands. The Rivne Oblast is situated on the north-west of Ukraine and characterized by an advantageous geographical setting and developed transportation system; in its industry the production of linen, non-woven fabrics, particle boards, plywood, chemical fertilizers and energy is dominant.
Obverse: bears the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine (above) with the semicircular inscriptions НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) above and П`ЯТЬ ГРИВЕНЬ (five hryvnias) beneath; to the right there is the mark of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint; in the center there is the conventionalized composition: the images of the Saint George Friary on the Cossacks` Tombs with the coin issue year indication 2014 thereunder, a fragment of the Dubno Castle (to the right), the conventionalized image of the Ostroh Bible, against the background of the ornamental composition of flowers, and the Peaceful Atom symbol.
Reverse: bears the Oblast coat of arms with the semicircular inscriptions: РІВНЕНСЬКА ОБЛАСТЬ (Rivne Oblast) above and ЗАСНОВАНА У 1939 РОЦІ (established in 1939 year) below.
