The two collectors coins — €5 and €20 — issued into circulation by the Bank of Lithuania to commemorate 25th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence.
The coins were minted by the Lithuanian Mint. The €5 coin is made from so-called Nordic gold — an alloy of copper, aluminium, zinc and tin. Its mintage — 25,000 units. Mintage of the €20 silver coin — 4,000 units.
The coins dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence are the third set in the series “Lithuania’s Road to Independence”. The first coins in this series were issued in 2013 to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of Sąjūdis, the second coins in this series were issued in 2014 to commemorate the the 25th anniversary of the Baltic Way.
The obverse of the coins features a stylised Vytis, the inscription LIETUVA (LITHUANIA) at the top, the denomination €20 — on the left and the year of issue 2015 at the bottom. The mintmark of the Mint is impressed on the reverse of the coins.
The reverse of the coins features a boat with a sail shaped like a wing of a bird, the Lithuanian Tricolour and a musical fragment of the national anthem; the inscription NEPRIKLAUSOMYBĖS ATKŪRIMAS 25 (RESTORATION OF INDEPENDENCE 25) is arranged in a semicircle.
