National Bank Of Georgia Issued A Collector Coin Dedicated To The European Youth Olympic Festival "Tbilisi 2015" on July 7th 2015.
The Governor of the NBG, Giorgi Kadagidze personally presented 10 Lari silver coin to the society. The coin was issued by NBG especially for the ХIII European Youth Olympic Festival, for collection purposes. The presentation was attended by the author of coin’s design Mamuka Gongadze and Chairman of the Organizing Committee of “Tbilisi 2015”, Alex Akhvlediani.
“In our opinion this decision of the National Bank will further promote the image of our country and Georgian sport on this important sporting event. Apart from the fact that the coin is very beautiful, one of the main functions of the coin is popularization of the event, our city and our country. I am sure this will be a pleasant gift for visitors of Tbilisi, and eventually it will become an important attribute for European Youth Olympic Festival, hosted by Tbilisi,”- Giorgi Kadagidze, Governor of the NBG stated.
Obverse: The colored emblem of the Olympic Festival and the imagery pictograms representing the types of Olympic sports are the central motive of the coin design. The semi circled inscription ”ევროპის XIII ახალგაზრდული ოლიმპიური ფესტივალი” (ХIII European Youth Olympic Festival) is placed on the right-hand ring of the coin.
Reverse: The symbol of the Georgian National Olympic Committee, the Olympic torch and the map of Europe are placed in the central part of the coin. The denomination numeral 10 and inscription ლარი (lari) are placed beneath it. The symbol of Georgian currency – Lari - appears on the right-hand side, along the denomination numeral. On the left-hand side, there is a circular inscription “საქართველოს ეროვნული ბანკი” (National Bank of Georgia). 9 stars out of 12 five-pointed stars of the European Union, representing the 9 types of sports included in the program are placed on the right-hand side.
