Grigore Vieru - 80 years since birth
Grigore Vieru (14 February 1935 – 18 January 2009) was a Moldovan poet and writer. He is mostly known for his poems and books for children. His poetry is characterized by vivid natural scenery, patriotism, as well as a venerated image of the sacred mother. Vieru wrote in the Romanian language.

following the coin circumference– the inscription „REPUBLICA MOLDOVA” is engraved in block letters.

on the central part - effigy of Grigore Vieru, three books, one of them is open, and a quill;
on the left-hand side - years of life "1935-2009";
on the lower side, the inscription "GRIGORE VIERU" is engraved in block letters.
