The National Bank of Ukraine issued into circulation the commemorative coins “Kosiv Painting” of 10 and 5 hryvnia face value on 15th of August 2017. Coins issued under Ukrainian Heritage coin series.
Coins are dedicated to the bright pearl of Ukrainian folk art - Kosiv ceramics, which got its name from the town of Kosov, Ivano-Frankivsk region. Aesthetics and style, born in the Ukrainian Carpathians, are not confused with anything. The main elements of Kosiv painting - flowers, patterns that go into a geometric ornament; Birds and images of people in the national Hutsul clothes are made in a special gamut mostly green, yellow and brown. Faithfulness to tradition, full of bright colors, feature stories - all that today distinguishes an original painting Kosovo.
The coin of 10 hryvnia face value has been made of silver; quality – “proof”, weight in fineness – 31.1 g, diameter – 38.6 mm, mintage – 3 500 pieces. The coin edge is smooth with in-depth legends: Ag 925 (metal and fineness), 31.1 (weight in fineness), NBU Mint logo.

On the reverse of the coin there is a colored (used tampon printing) plate with the image of a cock and a semicircular inscription: KOSOVSKY ROSPIS (top), TARILKA `PIVNIK` (below), right and left on a mirror background - stylized cockroaches.
The coin of 5 hryvnia face value has been made of nickel silver; quality – “BU”, weight – 16.54 g, diameter – 35 mm, mintage – 40 000 pieces. The coin edge is reeded.

The commemorative coins are a legal tender of Ukraine and shall be accepted without any restrictions at their face values for all types of payments as well as for placing to the settlement accounts, on deposits, for letters of credit and transfers.
