85 Years since the Establishment of Donetsk Oblast

Dedicated to the administrative-territorial unit of Ukraine, located in the south-east of the country. On the territory of the present Donetsk region 500 years ago there were Ukrainian Cossack settlements, which later formed the Kalmius palanka of the Zaporizhzhya Army Forces. Donetsk Oblast borders on the west with Zaporozhye and Dnipropetrovsk, in the northwest - with Kharkiv, in the northeast and east - with Lugansk regions of Ukraine and the Rostov region of Russia. From the south the area is washed by the Azov Sea. This is the land of industrial production and coal mining.

On the obverse of the coin there is: the small State Emblem of Ukraine above, circle inscriptions: NATIONAL BANK OF UKRAINE (above), FIVE HIRS (below), to the right is the logo of the Banknote-Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine; in the center there is a stylized composition symbolizing the region: a fragment of the flag of the region, under which is the year of issue of the coin 2017 (on the right), Svyato-Uspenskaya Svyatogorskaya laurel (on the left), teryokon, a fragment of the Ukrainian steppe with a stone bauble (on the right); Below are sunflower flowers, a miner's lantern and a helmet.
Reverse: 
On the reverse of the coin, the Mertsalov palm tree is depicted in a wreath of oak leaves - the main elements of the emblem of the Donetsk region; in the circle there are inscriptions: DONETSK REGION (top), BASED IN 1932 (below).
