On central part - the effigy of Ion Vatamanu, the image of a branch with leaves, a verse from the poet's repertoire (Tu-o frunză, Eu-o frunză... - You - a leaf, Me - a leaf ...) and his signature. On the top following the circumference of the coin, the inscription "ION VATAMANU 1937-1993" is engraved with capital letters.
