The National Bank of Belarus on December 23, 2009 puts into circulation new silver and copper-nickel commemorative coins “The Legend of the Lark” from the “Belarusian Folk Legends” series:
Silver coin – face value 20 rubles, purity 925, weight 33.62 g, diameter 38.61 mm;
CuNi coin - face value 1 ruble, weight 15.50 g, diameter 33.00 mm. Coins are round, the edge is reeded.
The obverse: at the top - a relief image of coat of arms of the Republic of Belarus, in the center – a stylized silhouette of a lark and elements of the Belarusian national ornament, in the background – the symbol of perpetual motion – the Slavic swastika. At the bottom – the year of issue (on silver coin – the purity). The inscriptions are: РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ in the upper part and 20 РУБЛЁЎ (Ag coin) and 1 РУБЕЛЬ (CuNi coin) in the lower part.
The reverse: at the center – a stylized image of the lurk with outspread wings, at the lower part - a silhouette of the sower. At the right side the inscription: ЛЕГЕНДА ПРА ЖАВАРАНКА.
Coins are minted at Lithuanian Mint. The quality is: Ag coin – proof, CuNi coin – proof-like. Mintage: 5000 each. These coins are a legal tender of Belarus for all debts, public and private without any restriction.
