Yakub Kolas

Belarusian History and Culture. Commemorative coin dedicated to the 120th Anniversary of Yakub Kolas. KOLAS, Yakub (pen name of MITSKEVICH Kanstantsin Mikhailavich; 1882–1956), Belarusian poet, prose writer, publicist, scholar, teacher, one of the founders of Belarusian literature and literary language. Belarusian People's Poet (1926), academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Belarusian SSR (1928), honored scientific worker of Belarus (1944), winner of two USSR State prizes (1946, 1949).

Obverse: 
within the circular geometric ornament – the relief of the State Coat of Arms of the Republic of Belarus; beneath – year of issue, silver coin – fine silver content and alloy standard; inscriptions along the rim – at the top: "РЭСПУБЛIКА БЕЛАРУСЬ" (REPUBLIC OF BELARUS), at the bottom: "ДЗЕСЯЦЬ РУБЛЁЎ" (TEN ROUBLES) on the silver coin and "АД3IН РУБЕЛЬ" (ONE ROUBLE) on the copper–nickel coin.
Reverse: 
in the center – the relief effigy of Yakub Kolas, in the left–hand part – years of his life "1882 – 1956", under it – a stylized effigy of oak, in the right–hand part along the rim – inscription "ЯКУБ КОЛАС" (YAKUB KOLAS).
