The coin is dedicated to one of the best-loved plants of Ukrainians being the subject of many folk songs, i.e. to Chervona (red with regard to the fruit ) Kalyna (European cranberrybush) that has become the national symbol of Ukraine.

Obverse: within the circle of beads there is the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine, above it – 2010 (the coin issue year); between the circle and the coin edge there are the semicircular legends: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine) above and 2 ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnias) underneath, as well as Au 999,9 (coin metal and its fineness) on the left and on the right – the logo of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint and the coin weight in fineness – 1,24.
Reverse:
Reverse: there is depicted a branch of European cranberrybush and are inscribed the semicircular legends: КАЛИНА ЧЕРВОНА – VIBURNUM OPULUS.
