This commemorative coin issued by the Central Bank of the Republic of Armenia is dedicated to the 1700-th anniversary of adopting Christianity in Armenia as a state religion. The Holy Cross Church (915), a masterpiece of Armenian architecture is situated in Aghtamar island in the lake Van. An architect and sculptor of the church was Manuel. The Holy Cross Church is an exclusive phenomenon in the Armenian medieval culture and history of architecture.
