The designer of the coin is sculptor Antanas Žukauskas. The image of the Coat of Arms - Vytis is adapted for the coin by artist Arvydas Každailis.

Obverse: 
The obverse of the coin carries an image of the Coat of Arms of the Republic of Lithuania - Vytis - in the centre. A year of issue - is positioned under it symmetrically to the vertical axis of the coin. Above the Coat of Arms an inscription LIETUVA runs in the form of a semi-circle.
Reverse: 
The reverse shows the number 5, positioned in the centre of the coin symmetrically to its vertical axis, and the inscription LITAI below. The ornament, formed from three evenly spaced groups of curved bars, is placed on the outside circle (the ring). The coin has a rim, the inner side of which is plain.
