Belarus and the World Community. Commemorative coin dedicated to the 2000th Anniversary of Christianity (In the Orthodox religion). Since the birth of Christ the town of Bethlehem has become a sacred place. On the site where he was born, above the cave, the Church of Nativity was erected. Over centuries, it was enlarged and rebuilt many times, so now it is a large temple complex. Divine services which are especially ceremonial on the patronal festival – Christmas – are performed in it. Holding the greatest sacred thing worshipped by all the Christians throughout the world, the Church of Nativity has become a permanent place of adoration and pilgrimage for all the Christians, whatever their confessions. The commemorative coin of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus dedicated to the 2000–th anniversary of Christianity features the Church of Nativity in Bethlehem.
