Belarus, together with the rest other world, celebrates the 2000–th anniversary of Christianity. On this account the Roman Catholic Church has chosen the event depicted on the commemorative coin of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus as the symbol of the Great Jubilee. Featured in the center is a cross encircling the globe. The cross reminds everyone of the fact that Christ died to save all the people. Three lines forming the cross represent the secret of the Sacred Trinity. Light – the symbol of Christ, the sole redeemer of the human race "yesterday, today and forever" – emanates from the center of the cross. Five doves symbolize five continents. Their interweaving indicates unification of nations and spiritual unity of God's children.
The main objects of worship for the Roman Catholic Church in Belarus are the Minsk Arch–Cathedral and Cathedrals in Grodno and Pinsk. The Minsk Cathedral is a baroque architecture monument. It was built in the main square of the medieval Minsk. The Pinsk Cathedral was founded in 1396. The Grodno Cathedral was built in downtown Grodno by Jesuits in 1678. It is a baroque architecture monument. In 1990, Рope John Paul II awarded it the title of Basilica.
